Personality of Jesus

1. Compassionate

  • Matthew 9:36: “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Jesus felt deep empathy for the lost.

  • Mark 6:34: “When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.” His compassion led to teaching the crowd.

  • Luke 7:13: “And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, ‘Do not weep.’” Jesus comforted a widow with compassion.

  • John 11:35: “Jesus wept.” His tears at Lazarus’ death show His compassionate heart.

  • Matthew 14:14: “When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.” Compassion drove His healing ministry.

2. Loving

  • John 13:34-35: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you.” Jesus’ love is the model for believers.

4. Merciful/Gracious

5. Just/Fair

  • John 5:30: “My judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.” His judgments aligned with God’s will.

  • Mark 14:62: “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power.” He affirmed His identity confidently.

  • Luke 22:70: “You say that I am.” He confidently accepted His divine role.

28. Enthusiastic

  • John 2:17: “Zeal for your house will consume me.” He was passionate about God’s temple.

  • Luke 12:49: “I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled!” He was eager for His mission.

  • John 4:34: “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.” He was enthusiastic about God’s work.

  • Matthew 21:12: “And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought.” His zeal showed enthusiasm.

  • Mark 1:38: “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also.” He was eager to spread His message.

29. Diligent

  • John 9:4: “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day.” He was diligent in His mission.

  • Luke 13:32: “Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course.” He worked purposefully.

  • John 17:4: “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.” He completed His task diligently.

  • Matthew 4:23: “And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching… and proclaiming the gospel.” His diligent ministry was widespread.

30. Thoughtful

  • John 4:7-26: “A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her…” He thoughtfully engaged her personally.

  • Luke 22:19: “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” He thoughtfully instituted the Lord’s Supper.

  • John 19:26-27: “Woman, behold, your son!” He cared for His mother’s future while dying.

  • Luke 22:32: “I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail.” He supported Peter’s faith.

  • John 14:1: “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” He encouraged His disciples.

  • Matthew 28:20: “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” He promised ongoing support.

  • Mark 9:23: “All things are possible for one who believes.” He supported a father’s weak faith.

34. Teacher

  • Matthew 7:28-29: “The crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority.” He was a powerful teacher.

  • Mark 1:22: “They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority.” His teaching was authoritative.

  • John 13:13: “You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.” He acknowledged His role as teacher.

  • Luke 4:15: “And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.” His teaching was widespread.

  • Matthew 5:2: “And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying…” The Sermon on the Mount shows His teaching.

    Matthew 7:7, Jesus tells us "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.'

    If we genuinely care in our heart and mind and seek out truth, God will show himself to us. Don't give up. This world is not easy. You're not alone, and will never be alone. God loves you. He want's a daily relationship with you. A daily relationship where you rely on him, pray to him and trust him.

    Later after his Resurrection, Jesus Christ appeared to the Eleven Disciples as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
